Mother Clucker

KFC or Pioneer Chicken: the debate won't continue here has been on the podium ever since I was a baby chick and to this day, though maybe a handful of Pioneer Chicken hens remain in existence (and even then, they're in far off lands called Bell Gardens and in East L.A. and a "satellite" location that serves up donuts as well on the corner of Olympic Blvd. and San Vicente Blvd.) I can proudly say that I support both sides of the fryer.

But alas, we have alternative methods of satisfying our poultry desires, like the L.A. Fried Chicken Fest! It will be the first of it's kind in these here neck of the woods for us to sample different versions of fried chicken. A couple of my favorites will be "batter"-ing it up like Mary Sue Milliken of Border Grill fame and Matt Molina from Mozza, and it's sure to be a party wherever they set up shop!

If you ask me: I'm a little curious about it; I've never had a fancy cocktail with my chicken leg before. But do I really need to spend $45 on some high falootin' fried chicken from Beverly Hills. I'm on the chicken-wire fence about this one. I mean, it's NINE Starbucks drinks RIGHT?!

If all else fails, I'll be standing at the entrance to The Coop on August 26th with a bucket of KFC under one armpit and another bucket from Pioneer Chicken 'cause YOU KNOW that's what you REALLY WANT! Come find me!
