Goodness Gracious Red Ball Afire

Since 2006, Kurt Perschke's Red Ball Project has continued to gain momentum as a one of the best environmental installations of the decade. Currently bouncing around town in Chicago, it's sure to make its way to Los Angeles (crossing fingers). Why the spotlight on such a project? Sculpture, in Perschke's words, should be tactile and should illustrate a sort of "transference of imagination." People are too busy with their day-to-day existence: they wake up early in the morning to get to work and get home from work, and eat, crap, sleep, only to do it again the following morning. One's imagination needs massaging every now and then, even if it's only for a split second in their routine.
