Everyone's A Little Bit Funny

For those of you unfortunate fools who have been accustomed to my idiosyncrasies with regards to my obsessive compulsive disorder - I salute you! My peculiar eye when it comes to design, however, is another story.

To be honest, I don't think I know what good design is anymore. You would think that after studying industrial design at Purdue University, designing for Gensler, and being surrounded by some of the industry's best on a daily basis, I would be on top of the curve! Anti-climactic, as a response, I am not. I just know what makes me smile. And what makes me smile, is "good design with a little twist."

Take this bedroom detail, for instance. Bedsheets are halfway between made and not made, wardrobe probably from IKEA or the like, but the half-chairs...the half chairs make the room. The half-chairs make me smile. The wall cut-out, although a great "mistake", now makes for the canvas for such a great idea! Brilliant I tell ya!
