Sure, navigating Yelp is pretty easy for even the most timid online users. It can even be a lot easier with an iPhone application when you're on-the-go and on-your-heels (on-your-boots for the equal-opportunists). In an effort to take this great tool to a different level, I am offering my 1 "to" 3's on dining in LA. I'll introduce (or reintroduce) 3 dining establishments I've recently visited and raved about. Without much adieu:
1. For "The Budget Conscious Babe" there's Spanish Kitchen $2 Taco Tuesdays. Hard/Soft shelled taco's with an ample selection of land & sea plate options. Cons: Rude, sometimes even alarmingly rude, waitresses. $
2. For "The Un-Japanese Thrillest" there's Daichan (which I've been accustomed to calling daikan). This Studio City jewel is more like my mom's living room than a Matsuhisa or even a Sushi Roku. They're known for their bowls...order one up! $$
3. For "The Tapas Lover" there's Bar Pintxo in Santa Monica. Eating at the bar is far more exciting than eating at one of the bar-height tables in the back. A conversation with a chef could be exciting - if you don't mind the unsliced prosciutto hanging ever-so close to your plate. $$$
